The Establishment of Methods for Separating and Purifying Lithium Isotopes in Bauxite.摘要
BACKGROUND: Bauxite is an important carrier of lithium. Because of its huge resources from extreme weathering. The study on the mechanism and distribution of lithium in bauxite will be beneficial to the prospecting and prediction of bauxite. However, currently there is still a lack of systematic studies on the distribution characteristics, enrichment rules, occurrence state, control factors and its associated elements (especially Li) in bauxite. OBJECTIVES: A method for separating and purifying lithium isotopes from bauxite has been established. METHODS: On the basis of previous research results of Li separation and purification, the separation and purification and test scheme of Li in bauxite were determined by leaching experiment. RESULTS: In this scheme, polytetrafluoroethylene exchange column (inner diameter:5mm, column length:190mm), AG50W-X12 cation exchange resin are used. With 0.5mol/L nitric acid as the eluent, after washing 34mL and collecting the final 12mL, which can complete the purification and recovery of Li in bauxite. At the same time, the method was used to purify the Li in international standard samples L-SVEC, RGM-2 and GSP-2, and the value of δ7Li was tested by MC-ICP-MS. The test results were consistent with the previous literature and reports, which verified the reliability of this method. CONCLUSIONS: The separation and purification scheme of Li in bauxite in this study can ignore the interference of Na on the test of Li isotopes (Na:Li < 1) while ensuring the complete separation and recovery of Li. The reliability, high accuracy of testing, and good reproducibility of the Li isotope separation and purification scheme are confirmed by the use of MC-ICP-MS. The experimental results show that GBW07182 has a relatively uniform lithium isotope composition (GBW07182:10.16‰±0.21‰(2SD, n=3)), which can be used as a reference sample for the separation and purification of Li isotopes from bauxite.
